  • Course description The drafter serves as a vital part of the team that converts ideas and raw materials into a finished product. The Computer Aided Drafting program offers the student the means to develop the skills needed for entry level employment in the drafting field. Computer drafting and design is one way to produce drawings. The program introduces 2-D techniques and progresses through 3-D. The program combines computer-aided drafting with conventional methods so that the drafting graduate will be able to create and modify working drawings on a computer system from information provided by engineers or architects. Students also acquire a working knowledge of the most common application software used for word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.

The Associate of Science Degree Program builds upon the Diploma Program and offers expanded technical training in modern drafting practices. Graduates of the Associate of Science Degree Program may find their long-term career opportunities expanded. Students who complete either program will find they are well-prepared to enter the job market.

Drafters are in demand in a wide variety of fields including Electronics Manufacturing, Architectural Design and Construction, Aerospace Engineering, Government, Public Utilities, and Communications. Other opportunities include areas such as technical sales and supervision. CAD has been one of the most significant engineering developments in recent times and continues to bring about dramatic changes in our technical world.
