Course description
Perhaps you hope to become a professional athlete or simply want to share your love of athletics with others. A major in Athletic Training is a great start. Athletic training is an expanding field that's quickly being recognized as an important aspect of modern healthcare.
As a certified athletic trainer, you will work to prevent, evaluate and treat injuries received by athletes and other active people. You will also help with the rehabilitation of injuries. Athletic trainers have a variety of work settings to choose from, such as community health centers to professional sports teams.
The Lewis University Athletic Training program prepares graduates for this dynamic career.
As a student, you will learn about anatomy, physiology, nutrition and biomechanics. This theoretical knowledge is coupled with hands-on experience in an athletic training setting. Lewis students also have the opportunity for clinical experience either at the University or at a off-site location.
After successful completion of the program, students will be ready for the certifying exam conducted by the National Athletic Trainers Association(NATA). Lewis' University’s Athletic Training program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
