Course descriptionWe are living in an information age. Fax machines, cellular phones, world-wide media coverage, personal computers, and internet access have created global market interdependencies.
Designers, creative directors, and visual art professionals play key roles in giving visual form to a barrage of data. As a profession, the communication arts have tremendous import in shaping the culture. Designers help to make sense of that which can be overwhelming and art directors give visual form to dreams and fantasies.
We here at the Department of Art and Design train our Graphic Designers, Art Directors, and Illustrators to enter the 21st century. By instructing students in the history of their profession, by exposing them to the ever-evolving computer-based technologies, by firmly rooting them in aesthetic principles, and by placing them in immediate on-site internships, we prepare students to enter the multi-cultural, digital world.
