Bachelor of Science in Forestry

  • Course description Forestry is well rooted at Auburn University, providing students with the knowledge to sustain and manage the diverse forest resources that make up our local and regional landscapes.  Grounded in the sciences and mathematics, the curriculum provides students with in-field skills and classroom training in management, policy, ecology, economics, and physiology.  Students in the forestry program spend the summer between their second and third years at our summer practicum program held at the Solon Dixon Education Center outside Andalusia, Alabama.

In the Senior year, students in forestry choose an emphasis area which defines 12 hours of specialized coursework. The emphases offered include forest biology, land management, forest operations, forest products, urban forestry, business, wildlife management, spatial analysis, policy, and a scholar's option. In addition, all students take a senior project course in their last semester. This course pairs students with a real world problem and requires that they rely on the assimilation of their knowledge and experience to produce a working solution.
The forestry major is nationally accredited by the Society of American Foresters.
