Entry requirementsSubmission of the following documents is required before an applicant is eligible for the VN Program selection process:
* SJVC Enrollment Application
* HS diploma, transcript with graduation date or GED
* Transcripts of previous college coursework
* Other documents as specified in the VN Application packet
* Proof that you're at least 18 years of age

SJVC’s Licensed Vocational Nursing program gives you the skill and knowledge to offer professional care to the sick, injured, convalescent and disabled under the direction of physicians and registered nurses. LVNs are an important part of a health care team responsible for detecting illnesses, medical treatment and rehabilitation, as well as patient education.

An extensive externship provides clinical practice in medical facilities and allows students to interact with patients and medical staff in a real-world environment.

As a well-trained professional, you can expect to enjoy flexible hours, job security and a stable income in such environments as acute-care facilities, long-term nursing and rehabilitation facilities, as well as home health care and hospice nursing.
Certifications Earned
Graduates earn an Associate of Science degree and are eligible to take the State Board of Vocational Nursing licensing examination. Graduates also earn Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Certification.
