Course descriptionGraduate programs in the Department of Textiles, Clothing and Design allow students at the masters level to concentrate their coursework in merchandising of apparel and textiles, costume or textile history, quilt studies, textile science, and textile or apparel design. Individual programs may include coursework in business, history, anthropology, art, art history, chemistry, sociology and statistics as well as textiles, clothing and design. In consultation with a faculty advisor, each student plans an individualized course of study linking background interest with research or creative interests of departmental faculty and educational resources of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The masters program requires 30 to 36 semester hours of graduate coursework.
The Master of Science in Merchandising under Option I requires 33 hours of 800 or 900 level courses. Included are 10-12 hours of Graduate College curriculum approved classes. Workshops, Independent Study, Problems, etc. if taken must be in addition to these 10-12 hours. In addition to thesis, 8 hours must be earned in course work open exclusively to graduate students.
