Language Door Los Angeles offers small interactive Turkish classes. Our comfortable, casual environment helps to make learning Turkish fun and convenient. We schedule our classes at times that work for busy adults. Enrich your life as you learn one language or learn many.

Course description
The book(s) for the classes reflect our practical approach to instruction and use of the language.
Beginning A (Chapter 1-3)
Topics: Say 'hello', 'goodbye', great people, say the name for family members, understand and make simple introductions, say 'with' & 'my', make plurals, say something about yourself, tell people what you've done recently, ask questions, say where you are & where you have come from, ask where someone is & is going, simple comparison, etc.
Grammar and Usage: Suffix, verb endings, singular & plural, simple verbs, present tense, simple past tense, suffix usage with present tense, suffix usage with past tense, adverbs of time, yes/no questions, the form of 'mi' questions, past tense questions, locative case (at, in, on), direction case (to, from), comparison of adjectives, etc.
Beginning B (Chapter 4-6)
Topics: Say whether things are around or not, answer questions 'yes' & 'no', talk and ask about possession, ask for things, explain things with 'this' and 'that', ordering dishes at the restaurant, numbers, say how old you are, 'negative' expressions, ask and answer questions in more detail, say 'first' 'second' etc, at the shop, use 'to have' in more detail, use the accusative and genitive cases, when to use them, etc.
Grammar and Usage: Verbless sentences, negation, more past tense, existential sentences, possesion, demonstratives, more negation, the possessive versus the personal suffix, genitive, the genitive forms of the personal pronouns, accusatives, etc.
Beginning C (Chapter 7-9)
Topics: Express your intentions, wishes & future plans, say the days of the week, urge people to do something, use "let's" do something, tell the time, talk about the future, say when you did something, express some useful 'time' words, colloquial pronunciation, at the train station, express habits, ask for permission, express obligation or need, influence people by means of commands and requests, combine two verbs, find the dictionary form of a verb, express 'have to', combine two nouns into a compound noun, combine an adjective and a noun, etc.
Gramma and Usage: Future tense, use of 'let [me]', how to make general statements, use of '-ivor' and 'genis zaman', negative form of 'genis zaman', permission & obligation, obligation & need, giving order, infinitives, infinitive ending - mek, infinitive ending - me, case endings on infinitives, compound nouns, the place of adjectives, other compound nouns, etc.
Intermediate A (Chapter 10-12)
Topics: A review of chapter 1-9, combine two clauses into a complex sentence, form relative clauses, form a second past tense, decide which of the past tense to use, say 'something would happen', if clause, say 'that you would do something', use temporal clauses (when, while), use signals to structure what you want to say, etc.
Grammar and Usage: Subordinated clauses, relative clauses, the form of the relative clause, the past tense in '-mis', the past participle in '-mis', if- conditional clauses, open conditions, closed conditions, the 'converbs' 'when' 'as soon as' & 'while', etc.
Intermediate B (Chapter 13-14)
Topics: Use the verb 'to be', translate 'and', express 'because', string together coordinated and subordinated clauses, say when something will happen in the future, express the way in which things are done, link two events that happen at the same time, or one after the other, etc.
Grammar and Usage: Use of 'and', indefinite pronouns, quantifiers 'all' 'some' & 'every', 'when' in the future, use of '-ki', simultaneous or consecutive actions, more converbs, etc.
Intermediate C (Chapter 15)
Topics: More complicated features of Turkish, some trickier elements of Turkish, more readings, etc.
Grammar and Usage: Causative, colloquial matters, double tense, postpositions, etc.
