The B.A.E. in secondary education program prepares educators who wish to teach students in seventh through 12th grade. While students develop a strong theoretical background, the program focuses on developing the requisite teaching knowledge and abilities to be a successful middle or high school teacher. In order to integrate teacher education preparation with the secondary education requirement for an academic specialization, the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College maintains connections with academic departments across the university.
Internships are required in the schools, and some courses are taught in the field.
Secondary education in German is offered in its entirety on ASU's Tempe campus. Students have the option to take the
Professional Teacher Preparation Program courses as well as
general studies courses that may be available that are part of this curriculum. A limited portion of specialization courses are also offered at the Downtown campus. All graduates of this program will have to pass
state certification tests in content area knowledge and professional knowledge.
