Course description
The drafter serves as a vital part of the team that converts ideas and raw materials into a finished product. The Computer Aided Design program offers the student the means to develop the skills needed for entry level employment in the drafting field. Computer drafting and design is one way to produce drawings.
The program introduces 2 dimensional drafting techniques and progresses through 3 dimensional drafting. The program combines computer-aided drafting with technical knowledge so that the drafting graduate will be able to create and modify working drawings on a computer system from information provided by engineers or architects. Drafters are in demand in a wide variety of fields including Electronics Manufacturing, Architectural Design and Construction, Aerospace Engineering, Government, Public Utilities, and Communications. Other Opportunities include areas such as technical sales and supervision. CAD has been one of the most significant engineering developments in recent times and continues to bring about dramatic changes in our technical world.
Graduates of this program receive a Diploma in preparation for such entry-level positions as CAD Technician, CAD Detailer & Drafter, CAD Operator and others.
Training equipment / hardware / software
Students use the following hardware and software as required throughout the program: computers, monitors and plotters, and Autodesk software. All courses incorporate hands-on training in Computer Aided Drafting.
