Program Overview
San Joaquin Valley College has developed an exciting new Registered Nursing program. The curriculum is offered in four 20 week terms. Upon successful completion of the program the student will be awarded an
Associate of Science Degree in Nursing. In addition, the student will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN) which is a requirement for practice as a registered nurse.

San Joaquin Valley College’s
RN program is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
The Registered Nursing program offers the following benefits to admitted students:
- Guaranteed class schedule
- All nursing courses completed in four 20 week terms
- Graduates earn an A.S. Degree, and are prepared and qualified to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam
Admission Requirements
Prospective students must meet the following requirements for admission to the program:
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater on all post-secondary coursework
- Current CPR certification
Prospective students must meet the following requirements for admission to the program:
- High School diploma or its equivalent
- Completion of all prerequisite courses with a grade of C or better: English 1A, Algebra, Sociology , Psychology, Speech, Anatomy with lab, Chemistry with lab, Microbiology with lab, Physiology with lab
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater on all post-secondary coursework
- Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association
Prospective students are responsible for providing proof of admission requirements and submitting additional required documents related to the application process. When an applicant’s file is complete, assessment exams will be scheduled. After testing is complete, the applicant information will be scored. Applicants with the highest total points will be scheduled for panel interviews. You must be selected for a panel interview to be considered for enrollment into the RN program at SJVC. It is the applicant’s responsibility to take tests on scheduled dates.Final selection will be made by the Program Director and faculty committee based on points earned in the admission process.
